Party like a star with Luc Belaire

The sparkling rosé wine tasted like a saccharine dream.

The gist of my invitation goes: Be ready at 2:30pm, a party van is coming to pick you up.

Mysterious, sexy and exclusive — my journey to the launch party of sparkling wine label Luc Belaire was befitting of the drink itself.

Mysterious Party Van

Complete with opaque windows, the inside of the party van was a whole other world with thumping hip-hop beats and a bevy of towering models.

Before I could greet anyone properly, a glass of Luc Belaire Rosé was brandished in front of me. Smooth, supple and sweet with hints of blackberry and blackcurrant, the sparkling rosé wine tasted like a saccharine dream.

Where are we headed? I asked in jest, but was promptly ignored by my fellow partygoers. Instead, my emptied glass was refilled with the Luc Belaire Brut. If the Rosé could be considered a ladies’ drink, the Brut could easily be the bubbly of choice for the men.

Fine Sparkling Wines of Burgandy

The Rosé is smooth, supple and sweet with hints of blackberry and blackcurrant.

Made with fine chardonnay grapes and produced in the heart of Burgandy, the Brut is aged to perfection, resulting in a refreshing and crisp flavour. Compared to the Rosé, I preferred the Brut for its light and dry taste profile, complete with citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon — altogether a more complex tasting drink.

Rosé or Brut?

By the time our van turned into Zouk, I was already feeling all partied out. As we entered, oohs and ahhs were heard. Turns out, a mini boxing ring had been erected in the middle of the club itself. Could it be Floyd Mayweather himself? I’d heard he received 200 bottles of Luc Belaire for winning his fight.

Thankfully, it was just two hunky male models hamming it up in the ring — donning Muay Thai shorts and boxing gloves. It was a mock fight of sorts, between the Rosé and the Brut. Was there eventually a winner? We couldn’t be sure.

In between the flowing drinks and animated conversations, I felt for the first time in a long while, like a true blue party animal.
