#HawkerTreasures Savouring The Taste Of Tradition At Tiong Bahru Food Centre

So.. what's next for lunch?

Having grown up right next to Tiong Bahru market and food centre— it was a delightful trip down memory lane when the Weekender team decided to come here for lunch. Whoever who said food evokes memory was certainly right; the taste of sweet charsiew roasted pork rice and Tiong Bahru da-bao is like a blast from the past, as I remember growing up in my great-grandmother's household, and these dishes being the weekly centrepieces for our Sunday family brunches.

Come with us, as we take you for a taste of tradition while we scour Tiong Bahru Food Centre for some of the best nostalgic eats.

2. 178 Lor Mee, $3

Run by a family of hawkers, the highlight of this Lor Mee is that they serve chunks of battered shark meat along with their thick, savoury gravy and noodles. For its price point, we feel that it is quite a substantial portion, and for $4, you can add more pieces of shark meat.
