Going for buffets is often said to be a national past time here in Singapore. But with buffet prices soaring year after year, it can be quite a test to find an all-you-can-eat affair that will not put a dent on your wallet. Here are some cheap and good choices to whet your tastebuds.
Chicken up Korean fried chicken buffet
Nothing is quite as addictive as some double-fried, greasy fried chicken drenched in Korean soy sauce. Better yet, you can now eat your fill at Chicken Up, said to be the best Korean fried chicken in Singapore according to a blind test by The Straits Times. The $25 buffet includes unlimited fried chicken and fries. We recommend the Swicy sauce, a sweet and spicy combi. For a big night out, add $7 to include a beer buffet.

For an affordable and yummy steamboat option, seek out Crystal Jade’s Steamboat and Xiao Long Bao buffet. Credit: HungryGoWhere
Crystal Jade Steamboat and Xiaolongbao buffet
The brands under the Crystal Jade Group are generally known for their quality take on various Chinese-style cuisines, but our favourite one is the Crystal Jade Steamboat and Xiaolongbao. The restaurant offers a very affordable buffet with prices starting at $19.80, where you can indulge in free-flow xiao long bao alongside your steamboat buffet. While the soup bases were average at best, the fresh ingredients and wide range of sauces made up for it.
