Academy Award-winning actor Eddie Redmayne has been cast as Newt Scamander in the much-anticipated wizarding adventure, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them!
Redmayne, who recently shone in the Stephen Hawking biopic The Theory of Everything, will play Newt Scamander, the Wizarding World’s preeminent magizoologist. In his travels, Newt has encountered and documented a myriad of magical creatures, ultimately leading to his penning the Hogwarts School textbook, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them”.
David Yates, director of the last four Harry Potter films, will direct this exciting upcoming project.
This marks the glorious return of magic for fans of J.K. Rowling’s “Harry Potter” series. Making her screenwriting debut on the film, Rowling developed the character of Scamander to further reveal her unique wizarding world, and bring it to life on screen.
Warner Bros. Pictures has slated Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them for worldwide release in 3D and IMAX beginning November 18, 2016.
