Still don’t know how to spend your National Day long weekend? Here are some ideas for last minute ways you can still celebrate Singapore’s golden jubilee

1. NDP Celebrations

9 Aug, 5pm, Ticketed admission
Dive into nostalgia with this year’s National Day Parade 2015 (NDP) that will be held at the historic venue, the Padang. With ‘The Vintage Parade’ that will re-enact segments of the street parades that took place in the early 1970s, Aerial Displays with the Republic of Singapore Air Force’s salute to the nation and the ‘Mobile Column’ that will show the strength of Singapore Armed Forces, Police Force and Civil Defence Force, prepare for an unforgettable NDP.

2. SG50 Carnival & Concerts @ Botanic Gardens (free)

7-9 Aug, 10am-10pm
As part of NParks’ SG50 Concert Series in the Park, be prepared for a three day carnival that will feature nostalgic activities which celebrate shared memories as well as the rich cultural and botanical heritage of the Gardens. Reminisce the “Aneka Ragam Ra’ayat” or “People’s Variety Show” that was held in the Gardens in 1959 as well as bandstand performances and outdoor movie screenings, and the NDP Live Telecast on 9 Aug together with fellow Singaporeans.

3. Unofficial Official Party of SG50

5 Aug, 6.30pm-10.30pm, Limited Tickets
Singapore’s own Tiger Beer will present a fresh take on how National Day is celebrated, by throwing its own epic National Day party, replete with surprising and remarkable unusual party elements. Imagine trishaw massage chairs, giant “chope” tissue packets, or even a chili-crab fountain. It will be a true Singaporean Party for this SG50.

4. Tampines GRC PAssionArts Festival (free)

9 Aug, 8am-1pm
Be part of the “Soaring Beyond 50” Sky Art Installation by Artist Khor Tuck Kuan and 100 crafts enthusiasts, turning recycled bottles into doves of love. Join Nick Shen and 100 Song Leaders as they sing together as ONE VOICE to celebrate the Nation’s jubilee!

5. Families for Life Picnic (free)

To celebrate and commemorate Singapore’s 50th anniversary, Families for Life (FFL) will be organising four SG50 picnics at Marina Barrage, Sembawang Park, Pasir Ris Park and West Coast Park. Families can enjoy a host of fun and engaging family activities such as kite-flying, DIY snack-making and movie screenings. Each picnic will boast its own unique highlights.

6. Block Party @ Esplanade (free)

Don’t have a ticket to the National Day Parade but still want to soak in the atmosphere of Singapore’s Jubilee’s celebration? Head down to the to Esplanade, known as Singapore’s ‘Durian’, and enjoy a free range of programmes and activities. Enjoy plenty of free performances by our very talented Singaporeans as well as the National Day Parade that will be broadcast live on a big screen at the Outdoor Theatre, so you will get the best of both worlds.

7. Community Chest Heartstrings Walk 2015 – SG50 Community Heartbeats

Make the jubilee celebration a meaningful one for all including the disadvantaged groups by supporting this charity fun walk. Activities include a special drumming activity, vertical marathon and a fun-filled carnival. Every donation will be matched dollar-for-dollar by the government under the Care & Share Movement, led by the Community Chest.

8. #SGEatWithUs (free)

7-10 Aug, 12-10pm
In celebration of SIngapore’s birthday and Makan Nation reputation, savour Singaporean home-cooked food at #SGEatWithUs – a gathering of local communities sharing pot-luck dishes with friends and visitors. This food carnival will feature 12 different recipes by the various home chefs.

9. “Singapore Stories”

With Singapore being a garden city, immerse yourself in the “Singapore Stories” – a floral depiction of Singapore’s tales and legends. Be enchanted by a special SG50 edition of the “Garden Rhapsody” music and light show that is completed with laser imagery. Singaporeans enjoy 50 percent discount on admission tickets and Singaporean seniors above 60 can enter for free.
