Site-specific art has been gaining popularity in recent years, with projects and exhibitions like Singapore Night Festival and iLight Marina Bay attracting increasing crowds each following year. While it is a good thing that visual art is no longer confined to galleries and museums, they remain mostly in the urban areas in Singapore (in part due to the ubiquity of our urban areas).
From now till 12 November, see art against a new backdrop — the serene landscapes of Siloso Beach. No towering skyscrapers, no jostling crowds. Pop Up Night features neon light art displays created by local artists such as Samantha Lo (a.k.a Sticker Lady), SophO, The Super System and Adeline Loo, with free sports, games, activities to keep you entertained the whole night. There’ll also be free movie screening at Emerald Pavilion every Saturday evening. Beach bags chillin’ movie night on the beach? Nice.
