Since its humble beginnings in 1999, PS.Cafe has grown into a gastronomical force to be reckoned with, spawning nine outlets to accommodate a huge following for its hearty cafe offerings of coffee, mains and desserts.

So when the homegrown cafe skewed away from its culinary path to release a line of artisan soaps, you can say that several eyebrows were raised.

The body care line encompasses three signature fine soaps namely: 9.30, 4.31 and 11.52. Presumably to represent a point of time in the 12-hour clock format, the soaps chronicle inspirational moments of a day. 9.30 reflects when senses awaken, 4.31 represents a revival of clarity and 11.52 illustrates when desires take over, leaving one lost in the moment.

Introspective? Very much so.

That aside, the soaps would be more exciting if they took after some culinary classics of the cafe. Perhaps a sticky date toffee pudding soap? But alas, it was not meant to be.

Instead, edible ingredients and botanical extracts such as pure aloe and Japanese Camellia sinensis were merged together to form three uniquely different fine soaps. Sweet-smelling and luxe to the touch, the line even boasts healing and anti-bacterial properties to boot.

Contained in a sleek black pump bottle, PS.Cafe fine soaps ($49) will be available online at pscafe.com and at all PS.Cafe outlets from September 2017.

Here’s a closer look of the trio:

9.30 am

A bright medley of grapefruit, blackcurrant, rhubarb, clove bud, geranium and magnolia, the 9.30 reflects a time when senses awaken, inspiration dawns and possibilities appear endless.
