A soaring sense of pride and patriotism was abound in Singapore today, almost exceeding the recent National Day celebrations.
Social media platforms and news channels exploded with congratulations of the highest form, upon realising that 21-year-old Singaporean swimmer Joseph Schooling had made history by garnering Singapore’s first ever Olympic gold medal.
His stellar performance in the 100m butterfly race at the Rio Olympics’ Games was sealed with an Olympic record of 50.39 seconds — beating decorated US Olympian Michael Phelps.
