Chinese New Year (CNY): 30 Jan, Mon

Take leave on:

Another peak period for travel, CNY may be better spent at home. However, if you’d like to experience a different kind of CNY celebration, Vietnam is the place to be. From 26 Jan – 1 Feb, the Vietnamese celebrate Tet, the country’s equivalent of the Lunar New Year.

Throughout this holiday, the locals whip up special holiday food such as bánh chưng, bánh dày, dried young bamboo soup (canh măng) and sticky rice, and the streets fill up with the hubbub of firecrackers, drums, bells, gongs and more to ward off evil spirits. This parade will also include different masks and lion dancers.
