4. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

The capital city of Malaysia has climbed from fifth place fourth this year, reported Skyscanner. An increasingly popular location with foodies, Kuala Lumpur has earned its place in Singaporeans’ hearts with its multitude of quirky cafés.

But it’s not just the café-hopping culture that lures in travellers. Hotels.com shares that Singaporeans tend to look out for food markets when doing their travel research.

According to travel search engine Kayak.sg, a survey showed that Jalan Alor Food Street is the place to be. Here, modern shopping malls are replaced with buildings of a bygone age, housing hawker stalls that spill out onto the streets.

The best time to visit? It’s on Sunday and Tuesday, when flight fares fall as low as $76.
