Taiwan’s second largest city is a treasure trove of attractions for those who wish to go south of Taipei. By Marlene Tan
2. Cruise down Love River
Until the late 1990s, the Love River would not evoke any romantic feelings at all. It was littered with rubbish and industrial waste, and smelled rank. Today, after a major cleanup, it’s one of the top tourist attractions in Kaohsiung. It’s now the go-to place for the best sunrise and sunset views in the city. Take a stroll or cycle along the river in the day. Greenery dotted with art installations flanks the river on both sides. At night, Love River is all lit up, making a gondola cruise down the river a popular choice.
