This Japan prefecture is a lesser known oasis of relaxation and impeccable cuisine
If you've already embarked on the Golden Route, also known as the old Tōkaidō road from Tokyo to Kyoto, you might want to consider exploring Ehime the next time you visit Japan.
While less bustling than its counterparts, the prefecture, which literally means "lovely princess" in Japanese, is rich with history, culture, and the traditional spirit of hospitality. Plus, its warm and mild climate makes it a breeze to travel anytime of the year.

2. Tuck into local cuisine
Blessed with a long coast line, Ehime is also known for its prosperous fishing culture and abundance of seafood. Local specialities include the Taimeshi, a pot of boiled rice topped with slices of fresh sea bream dipped in egg-based sauce; as well as the Iyo Satsuma, made of ground fish meat seasoned in wheat miso and lightly roasted over fire.
Seafood lovers will appreciate Horaku Yaki, which consists fresh fish and shellfish such as sea bream, shrimp, top shell and hard clam, all grilled on coarse salt in a thick pot called ‘horoku nabe’.
