3 new Bali and Phuket resort hotels you’d want to stay in

Looking for a special stay for your upcoming holiday? Check out these alluring hotels that are calling out to us

These new resorts caught our eye the minute they sprung up on our radar. From lush green surroundings to boutique hotels with unique concepts, these places have earned their spots at the top of our to-stay list.

1. Karma Retreat in Bali, Indonesia

Perched on the palm-fringed riverbanks of Ubud, the cultural heart of Bali, Karma Retreat is surrounded by the enrapturing scenery of lush coconut groves, mossy stone temples and picturesque rice terraces.

The resort itself is dripping in luxury, from elaborate traditional Balinese hardwood to giant outdoor terraces by the pool. Day trips out to Ubud’s famed art galleries and artisanal shops are easy with the resort’s shuttle service.

The concierge can even make arrangements for Bahasa Indonesia language lessons, woodcarving sessions with a local artist, classes in Canang Sari-making and more. Sounds as though staying here is almost like receiving really good karma.

2. Cassia in Phuket, Thailand

Banyan Tree’s new hotel, Cassia, is drawing us in with its tempting customisable concept. Opening in October 2015, this stylish hotel offers chic apartments that each come with a living room and a fully-equipped kitchen for all your wild parties in Phuket.

Want a hotpot or BBQ grill party? Purchase ingredients from the Market 23 Cafe or the local market just minutes away. You can also spend evenings in the Street Bar while admiring the works of famous Thai street artists.

Many options can be configured upon booking through their website, or when you check in. Cassia is offering second nights free from Oct 21 to Dec 19, and Jan 10 to 31 2016.

3. The Katamama in Bali, Indonesia

Here’s more reason to pop by one of Asia’s the hottest beach spots. The folks behind the popular Potato Head Beach Club in Bali will be opening this boutique hotel on the island in Jan 2016.

Translated to mean “what mama says”, The Katamana is inspired by “home”. Warm Balinese bricks, teak, handmade Java tiles and terrazzo greet you everywhere in the hotel; you’ll also get to enjoy curated artwork, handpicked furniture and collectibles in your room.

All rooms have their own outdoor spaces, which feature balconies and secluded gardens – some even with private pools. The One-Bedroom Penthouse beckon to us with its roomy two-storey space that comes with a spa bath and its very own bar.

Guests can also look forward to custom apparel and accessories during their stay, like a beach bag, bathrobe and shawl made from Indonesian or Japanese textile patterns.
