Many folks love the sun, sand and sea, but the mess, dirt and sweat can be off-putting. With glamping (glamorous camping), discomfort is no longer part of the equation. This upcoming resort in North Bali, Indonesia, takes chic relaxation to a whole new level.

Opening in August this year, Menjangan Dynasty Resort is located on an isolated peninsula, surrounded on three sides by ocean and fronted by a calm lagoon. Each camp tent looks out to uninterrupted views of the ocean, Menjangan Island, the National Park and an impressive backdrop of three mountains in east Java.

Camping in comfort

The resort features 24 beach camp tents, including cliff tent villas made of authentic safari tents from South Africa. It wouldn’t be glamping without you being pampered — all tents come with a flat-screen television, a minibar, a telephone and full bathroom amenities.

The largest tent is the two-bedroom cliff tent villa, a 82sqm suite that features a large deck and a 23sqm private infinity pool. This villa is available at about $960 a night.

Outside, a giant 158sqm infinity pool flows off a cliff, with a waterfall cascading into a lower pool. Other facilities include resort-wide buggy service, a dive centre, private waterfront spa rooms, an exercise room and a bamboo Wantilan event space with unsurpassed views.

Into the wild

The northwest coast of Bali, where Menjangan Dynasty Resort is located, has become increasingly popular among adventurers for its unspoilt environment and captivating local culture.

Visitors can dive or snorkel at Menjangan Island, just 15 minutes by boat from the resort; explore the Atlas Pearl farms and the quiet village of Pemuteran; soak in hot springs; discover secret waterfalls; go trekking, cycling and even horse riding.

Before its opening, the resort is offering an opening rate for stays starting mid-August. Bookings can be made online at mdr.pphotels.com.
