A world of fantasy & folklore

What’s a quaint storybook village without some fascinating folklore? Tales of traders peddling rare treasures and dwarves wandering in these lands are passed around in Kulturinsel.

But it’s not just word of mouth, because the Germans love to show and tell. If you visit early in September you can be part of the wonderful Folklorum Festival, where folk music and funny activities are blended together in a giant bash.

Frolicking forest party

Over three days, the park will house 13 zones of bazaars, celebrations, and zany events. Last year, musicians performed while suspended from trees, and a free rope slide was given to anyone daring enough to go nude.

Next year is the best time to visit, because Kulturinsel will hold the Turisedischen Festival – for only the second time in 1,000 years!

This festival celebrates the culture of the ancient Slavic people of Turisede, and will erupt in a throng of exciting displays including human pyramids, poet limerick battles, and mystical consecration games.

Even if you’re not into the wacky party scene, a stay in Kulturinsel will definitely be an experience to remember. Finally, you can live in your very own happy ending!
