5. Gangneung

Amidst the splendid natural environment, between the blue sea and the lush mountains, lies Gangneung. Known as the birthplace of many notable writers and female poets, this modern city is now considered a mecca for coffee lovers in Korea with their annual Coffee Festival held in the Spring.

Take a stroll down Gangneung Anmok Beach, one of the nation’s most beautiful coffee streets, sampling coffee and desserts from the well-renowned coffee shops. Do check out Ojukheon, one of the oldest preserved traditional houses in the nation belonging to Joseon era heroine, Shin Saimdang.
