7 Festivals In The Region For The Rest Of 2018 Worth Jetting Off To

Come for the festivities, stay for the culture

Sometimes we’re just itching to go on a holiday, but we can’t decide when or where to go. That’s when we create a global calendar and start planning a trip around festivals, big events and celebrations. Attending a festival overseas is a great way to experience the local culture and traditions up close, with the locals themselves.

And who says the most happening festivals are in Europe or the US? If you’re on a budget, Asia and Oceania are popping with lively celebrations. For every Coachella and Oktoberfest, we have a Wonderfruit and Tokyo Ramen Show to keep us grooving and salivating. So pull up your own global calendar and get ready to mark these dates down!

Where: Canberra, Australia

When: 15 September – 14 October 2018

It’s springtime in Australia! Join the Australians in welcoming the beautiful season with a month-long flower festival at Canberra. Last year, Canberra caught everyone’s attention when Lonely Planet named it the best Australian city and third in the world’s top cities. What better way to experience what the fuss is all about than attending Australia’s biggest celebration of spring right in this “criminally overlooked” city. Hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world do just that, flocking to Canberra’s Commonwealth Park every September and October to witness more than a million flowers come into colourful bloom. Besides the floral displays, Floriade has a diverse program that includes live music, food and wine, horticulture and crafts workshops, yoga, and fun activities with your dogs. The flowerbeds continue to set a gorgeous backdrop after the sun sets, when the NightFest brings five nights of food and entertainment in the park.
