Has it really been three and a half decades since the first Disneyland in Asia, Disneyland Tokyo opened?

The year was 1983, almost 30 years after the original "Happiest Place on Earth" opened in Anaheim, California in 1955. Not only was it then the only Disneyland in Asia, Disneyland Tokyo was the first park to be built outside the United States.

From April 2018 all the way to March 2019, Tokyo Disney Resort will celebrate its birthday with a special anniversary event "Tokyo Disney Resort 35th ‘Happiest Celebration" held at both Disneyland and DisneySea Park. Guests are in for an incomparable experience of magical fun with a slew of new attractions, activities, and programmes for the whole family!

Here are some of the exciting highlights you just can't miss:

3. Celebrate on sea!

Over at Tokyo DisneySea Park, a brand new show awaits. The “Happiest Celebration on the Sea” will see Mickey Mouse and his Disney friends, including Donald Duck and Goofy, sending their blessings on board a special boat that sails through the waters of the Mediterranean Harbour.

Look how adorable Duffy, his girlfriend StellaLou, and the rest of their squad are as they sing and dance around the harbour! The 12-minute show will take place up to three times daily to tunes of the 35th-anniversary theme song. Trust us when we say that the catchy song will be stuck in your head for days after you leave the Park!

Venue: Mediterranean Harbour, Tokyo DisneySea
Duration: Approximately 12 minutes
