Located on the second floor in Marina Square’s new wing, Cantonese restaurant Dragon Bowl is offering six special Lunar New Year set menus, as well as a takeaway option for those of you who prefer to dine in the comfort of your own home.

Considering that Dragon Bowl refers to the imperial meal made for emperors in ancient China, it’s no surprise that the restaurant prides itself on the highest service, ingredients, and even ambience. The interior was decked out in comfy leather chairs, and the spacious dining area has plenty of natural sunlight thanks to the ceiling-to-floor windows.

To kick off our Prosperity Set Menu ($888 for 10 persons), we were presented with the Prosperity Abalone Yu Sheng with Fish Roe. The yu sheng was sweet and flavourful, and the appetising sauces and seasonings paired well with the all the tossed up ingredients.

The steamed Red Grouper that came next was cooked to just the right texture that the meat slid off the bones without much effort. Incredibly fresh without a single trace of fishiness smell, all we could taste was the natural sweetness of the steamed fish, which proved to be more than enough. If you prefer a little bit more flavour, just lather a slice of the fish in the soya sauce and you’re good to go.

The piquant taste of the black truffle alerted our noses to this noodle dish before we even caught sight of it. Taste-wise, the black truffle oil did add a rich kick to the dish, and we really liked the addition of the beansprouts which added plenty of crunch.

Presented in a uniquely-shaped plate that looked deceptively shallow, the shark’s fin was served up in generous portions. The texture was smooth and the broth was rich and flavourful, all without needing a single drop of vinegar we’re all so used to dousing over our sharks’ fins.

The exquisite takeaway package comes with a Prosperity Abalone Yusheng with Fish Roe; Herbal Kampong Chicken with Cordyceps; Yuan Yang Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf with Waxed Meat and Sakura Shrimp; and Dragon Bowl Prosperity Fortune Treasure Pot. $50 and $100 complimentary cash vouchers will also be given with every purchase of regular and large Fortune Package respectively.
