Would You Slip Into A Pair Of Balenciaga Crocs?

Paris Fashion Week saw models strutting down the catwalk in the famously ugly shoes

One can imagine the furrowed eyebrows, the skeptical head-tilts and perhaps the quiet ringing of involuntary gasps from attendees at Balenciaga’s Spring/Summer 2018 show, when the brand’s designer Demna Gavasalia sent platforms Crocs (complete with the shoe charms mind you)  down the catwalk.

Called Foam, the rubber clogs has already caused a division between the supporters and naysayers in the fashion realm with its cartoonish colour, 10-cm high platforms, and shoe charms that look like they came out of a kid’s DIY playset.

This is not the first time the Spanish luxury brand has made waves for putting a luxury spin to normal, and arguably ugly, things. In April 2017, the brand debuted an oversized blue leather tote bag that is near-identical to IKEA’s 99-cent “FRAKTA” bag. The supposed luxe bag costs $2,724.

Regardless whether you’re onboard or not, you better believe that the Balenciaga Crocs are here to stay. And if you ever decide to go out wearing this controversial footwear, we suggest taking extra precaution when on the escalator. Let’s just say, we heard stories.
