Zero Pain IPL

I was due for my first ever IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) experience, and comforted by the promise of zero pain with EstheClinic’s MacPeel No Pain System (NPS) IPL treatment.

Popular for permanent hair removal, IPL can be considered the panacea of beauty treatments when it comes to getting yourself bikini-ready. However, the downside of the traditional IPL system is that it delivers intense pulsed light in one sudden zap, often causing some pain.

The session began with me lying down on the recliner chair and comfortably tucked under a blanket, with my lower legs exposed.

A generous amount of viscous gel was applied on my legs, so that the IPL hand-piece could easily glide over my gams.

Quick and Efficient

With my protective goggles on, the treatment began with the hand-piece sweeping across my skin in continuous motion. The sensation was growing warmth that intensified at the more sensitive spots, such as my inner thighs and knees.

The sweeping motion gradually raised the temperature of the hair follicles by stacking the IPL pulses, for a more comfortable treatment. Was there pain? Not quite.

Nonetheless, I’m sure I cringed when the hand-piece moved over a spot where I had a bruise.

Within 20 minutes or so, the treatment was over — relatively painless as promised. With the MacPeel, it takes as little as six to eight sessions to remove 80 to 90 per cent of hair permanently.

Two weeks after my first treatment, the hair on my lower legs looked sparser than before. With its speed and painlessness, it was certainly worth the while.

EstheClinic’s Silky Smooth IPL hair removal treatment starts from $150 per session each for underarms and bikini line to $600 per session for full legs.
