With the sheer number of Internet famous cats and dogs around (Grumpy Cat, anybody?), you’d think it’s about time somebody pioneered a social network for pets and their owners already.

Social platform Pet Widget looks set to fill the bill, as it launches in Singapore.

The homegrown, award-winning app wants to be a ‘human-powered and pet-driven’ social network, which aims to improve the way we care for pets by connecting pet-loving folks to useful services and to each other.

Like Facebook, but for pets

Its key features include the ability for pet owners to set up profiles for each of their pets, with fields to input key information and even set medication reminders. Think Facebook, but for your adorable critters.

Better yet, all these information can be linked to Badge, Singapore’s first intelligent pet ID tag.

Upon scanning Badge on a lost pet, one can immediate assess the contact details of the pet owner as well as any critical medical needs or behavioural concerns.

Connect with pet lovers

Onto the more exciting part of the app, users can connect with the pet-loving community via a Pet Talk platform.

Got problems with puppy training? Ask a fellow dog owner. Cat scratching your furniture? Rant about it with a new friend.

Apart from sharing tips, advice and recommendations, the platform also supports lost & found reports and adoption listings.

Users can also browse over 450 listings for pet-related services and businesses from veterinarians and pet-friendly cafes, to even swimming pools for dogs in Singapore.

And did we mention this could possibly be the Tinder for pet lovers?

Try the app’s People Nearby function, which allows users to take their in-app connections offline by showing other users in the vicinity. Users may then use an in-app chat function to make arrangements to meet.

Who knows? Your dog walking session might just progress to a coffee date, or two!

Pet Widget can downloaded for free on App Store and Google Play.

Badge retails at $29.00 and is currently available at Naiise, Wellfond Pets Thomson, The Barkery Singapore, Excluniqueeee, Howlistic Life, SPCA Singapore, Sun Petgamart, The Animal Ark Veterinary Group, Kohe Pets and Pets Philosophy.
