Since it was first announced in July, we have been eagerly anticipating the collaboration between Burberry and Vivienne Westwood. Last week, the two fashion powerhouses revealed their join campaign and limited edition collection.

It’s a rather unexpected mash-up, but a perfect first collaboration for Burberry’s newly appointed Chief Creative Officer Riccardo Tisci. Tisci’s overhaul of the 162-year-old British brand saw a modernising rebirth – changing the iconic Burberry logo, and launching a 24-hour Instagram-only pop-up shop to debut his first Burberry collection.

Westwood was an obvious choice for his first collaboration. “Vivienne Westwood was one of the first designers who made me dream of becoming a designer myself,” Tisci says.

The new joint capsule collection combines the Westwood’s punk aesthetic with Burberry’s vintage prints. The result is exquisite pieces for both men and women – shirts with an oversized collar, lace-up platform shoes, berets, even a mini kilt, and more, all sporting the iconic Burberry check.

Shot in London, the Burberry x Vivienne Westwood campaign features an eclectic cast of many famous faces in the arts industry, such as Kate Moss, Sistren, Leonard Emmanuel, as well as Westwood and her partner Andreas Kronthaler.

Kate Moss wears the Oversized Collar Silk Twill Shirt and Vintage Check Wool High-waisted Trousers, some of our favourite pieces in the collection.

How cool are the Slogan Print Vintage Check Tights that the Spanish artist Dolores De La Rosa has on? And we love those lace-up platforms, too!

A closer look at the lace-up platform shoes in full colour. Guests wore them to the ‘Vivienne Westwood & Burberry’ launch party. Celebrities the likes of Matt Smith, Miley Cyrus, Winnie Harlow, Lily Collins, Ezra Miller, and Halsey also attended the party to celebrate the collaboration.

Burberry and Westwood also teamed up to support UK-based nonprofit organization Cool Earth, which works with rainforest communities to halt deforestation and climate change. To raise awareness for Cool Earth, they designed the oversized t-shirt featuring the slogan (handwritten by Westwood herself): “Cool Earth has a plan to save the rainforest.”

In addition, Westwood will also customise four exclusive items from the collection to be auctioned, with proceeds going to Cool Earth.

You can now shop the full collection online and in select stores globally.
