Pernilla Rönnberg tells us when a girl ought to start her anti-ageing skincare regime

Mom, entrepreneur and beauty guru, Pernilla Rönnberg is the embodiment of the new age superwoman who takes multi-tasking very seriously.
Her determination to create the next generation of organic skincare found fruition when she founded skincare brand Estelle & Thild in 2oo7.
Lovingly named after her daughters Estelle & Mathilde, the leading Swedish beauty brand is best known for their use of ingredients such as precious oils and botanical extracts.
We caught up with Pernilla to suss out her skincare regime and quiz her on all things anti-ageing.
Hi Pernilla! What have you been busy with lately?
Hi Weekender! The team and I are currently working on some exciting product launches as well as opening up new markets for Estelle & Thild.
It is a very thrilling time for me right now, as we have a lot of positive things going on and the company is growing fast. I am very grateful to be on this journey!
In your opinion, when should a girl start her anti-ageing skincare regime and why?
Your skin is a reflection of how well you take care of yourself. Just like how you invest in eating healthy and exercising, an effective and non-toxic skincare routine is an investment for your future skin.
At Estelle & Thild, we believe in personalized skincare and tending to your concerns. We are all different, but around the age of 25, it is wise to start using products that cater to the changes your body goes through.
The skin starts needing extra moisture, and as we age, we need more collagen and vitamins to keep a healthy glow.
This is a great time to start with our BioDefense line, which nurtures the skin and gives it the vitamins it needs to help slow down the skins ageing process. While after the age of 35, you can start looking into more advanced anti-ageing products, such as our Super Bio-Active range.
What are some key ingredients to look out for in an anti-ageing product and why?
My top 3 favorite ingredients to combat ageing are:
Marine Micro alge – it helps protect the skins cells from UV-induced radical damage, and shields against oxidation, as well as being a powerful antioxidant. It is even found to be 14 times more effective than vitamin E when working to minimize signs of ageing.
Hyaluronic Acid – works as a highly efficient moisturizing agent it helps smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
PHA Acid – helps stimulate cellular renewal to reduce fine lines and bring out the skin’s natural glow and radiance.
Walk us through your daily beauty routine and tell us your favourite beauty essentials!
I start my daily beauty routine with an Estelle & Thild cleanser, and then dab on some toner. It is super refreshing, doesn’t contain alcohol, and is the foundation for hydration in any skincare routine. I use our Super BioActive serum and oil, mixing them together to get maximum benefits deep into the skin.
Then I finish off with a moisturizer and eye cream, and perhaps our tinted moisturizer. It has just the right amount of pigments for that healthy glow.
I am addicted to our body care range, the products smell like fresh flowers, and I mix and match the scents depending on my mood. I like how they go with my favorite perfume from Balenciaga.
A couple of times a week, I give my face a deep cleansing treatment to polish off dead skin cells with our BioCleanse Radiance Micro Polish and our BioCleanse Deep Cleansing Detox Mask. These two are real lifesavers when it comes to dull skin. I instantly get a brighter, healthier complexion!
What’s one beauty faux pas you’ve committed and what have you learnt from it?
The classic mistake of thinking that you don’t need eight hours of sleep. It really shows on your skin! Getting enough rest, drinking water and going for a run are my beauty miracles.

My dream was to provide women with a sustainable, non-toxic, certified organic skincare routine with proven results.

What’s one thing you wish others knew about organic skincare? And why?
That even though our products are organic, they work. My team and I have worked hard to create products that are organic, sustainable and safe but where consumers don’t need to compromise on the results, the scents and the overall experience.
All our products are certified organic by EcoCert, which acts as a stamp of quality for our consumers, ensuring that our ingredients are organic and sustainably produced.
I am very proud that this is something that we have accomplished, and this philosophy drives us to innovate further to create new products for our consumers.
