Here’s Where You Can Enjoy A Rainbow Grilled Cheese Sandwich

We’re buying a ticket to Hong Kong now

By Samantha Francis

Viral food trends are in a constant flux, but rainbow coloured desserts seem to be a mainstay.

The latest to hop on the bandwagon is this rainbow grilled cheese sandwich from KALA Toast in Hong Kong.

At first glance, it looks like somebody added food dye liberally to our favourite, oozy, mid-day snack. Turns out, this rainbow sandwich which costs 42 HKD (about $7), comes with cheese of all flavours.

Blue is lavender, green is basil, red is tomato, and yellow is plain old cheese (a combination of mozzarella, cheddar, emmental, and gruyere).

Dubbed ‘unicorn grilled cheese’ by foodie Instagrammer @hkfoodiexblogger, the creation is said to be nicely toasted to a crisp, though it tends to veers on the oilier side.

Of all the flavours, it seems that basil was the most outstanding of all.

Photogenic with an average taste, why aren’t we surprised? Nonetheless, we’ll love to have a try!
