You don’t have to go to a museum or an art gallery to learn more about Singapore’s history, culture and art. Our streets are embellished with wall murals that tell beautiful stories of Singapore. Tucked away in historic districts like Chinatown and Little India, the murals trace out unique trails for a budget-friendly romantic date or day out with friends and family!
We’ve picked out seven of our favourite spots in Singapore to find gorgeous street art – all you have to do is get your camera ready, strap on your walking shoes, and strike your best pose for the ‘gram.

1. 222 Queen Street + 51 Waterloo Street
At this arts centre, you’re invited to not just look at art, but interact with them! In 2016, the 222 + 51 arts centre decided to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the old Catholic High School building it now stands on, by commissioning several new heritage murals by local artists Yip Yew Chong and Yuen Kum Cheong. Painted on both sides of folding door panels, each mural tells a story about the rich history of the Bras Basah and Bugis precinct. Go ahead and close the doors to “Two Rails” by Yuen Kum Cheong, and watch how an old man and his student pop to life in the foreground of a lush green railway sidewalk. Run your fingers along the life-like “books” that adorn “National Library and MPH” by Yip Yew Chong – do they have the books from your childhood?
