5 Easy-To-Follow New Year’s Resolutions for 2015

The year is drawing to a close and it is time to set your resolutions again! Let us help you with your goal settings this year

Believe me; I know how hard it is to stick to a resolution. Just last week, I resolved to cut cupcakes out of my diet. No prizes for guessing who is stuffing her face with cupcake-y goodness as she writes this article!

So let’s make it fun, here are 5 easy-to-follow resolutions for 2015:

Be kind to one person a day

It’s not hard. Take a flyer from the elderly distributor – use the paper to shield yourself from our sudden December storms. Drop excess pennies to a street musician – it lightens your wallet! Say thank you sincerely to your cashier – they might give you extra fries!

Good things beget good things. Give it a try!

Go to the gym and find an eye candy

Come on admit it – a gym tops your new year’s resolutions. Now, instead of giving you the same over-used advice, I will tell you something new.

Instead of pushing yourself to the limit with strenuous sets and boring routines, do this first: find the hottest chick/ dude there. Feast your eyes and tell yourself, “If I come back tomorrow, I will get to see him/ her.”

Bonus points if you make attractive, grunting noises when you spot them eyeing you.

Fix one aspect of your diet everyday

If I hear the phrase, “eat clean!” one more time, I’ll vomit. Instead of going to extremes, why not start small? Give yourself 1-day bans.

Monday: No chocolates

Tuesday: No cupcakes

Wednesday: No cookies

You can still have chocolates and cookies on Tuesdays! Over time, you will realize sugar isn’t as addictive as you thought it to be and then you can start extending your bans. 1-week ban from chocolates? Piece of cake!

Watch a good movie every week

Last night, I watched Schnidler’s List. It was a slow, cringing torture to sit through. But it made me think – if a German man can save 1200 Jews without fear for his life, then I can spare this ant that is crawling towards my half-eaten food.

And so I let them live.

Talk to your family once a day

It doesn’t have to be a lengthy conversation, just make sure you hear their voice. It can be anything from how they are doing to what they ate for lunch. You would be surprised how simple interactions like that can impact your family.

Of course by interaction I mean positive ones. “Ma help me close the door,” doesn’t count.

Sounds simple enough, doesn’t it?

In a nutshell, we know it is hard to keep to your resolutions. All we want for 2015 is for the skies to rain cheques in our names, not for a grudging gym membership or disgustingly healthy dinners.  But instead of praying to wake up with a body that makes Angelina Jolie cry, why not earn it?

I am putting down my cupcake slowly now.
