Will it be more "Jershey Shore" or "Keeping Up with the Kardashians"?

Thanks to her notoriously fierce online persona, Xiaxue - aka Wendy Cheng - is often regarded by many as intimidating. But strolling into the room with a bubble tea in one hand and a pastel-pink jacket in another, Wendy looks like a mini-Barbie. I pick up my camera for our shoot; she casually digs into her bag.

"Wait ah, give me a moment to check my make-up."

But beneath her baby-pink clothing and bubbly smile, Wendy hides many talents. She soon makes her television debut with "Wendy vs the World", a one-off reality show that follows her daily life as a mother, a daughter and one of Singapore's most controversial social media stars.

Weekender catches Wendy for a chat about her new venture and life as she sees it.

What do you hope people will learn about you after watching your show?

I hope that they’ll like me in the show! I don’t know if I’ll come off as likeable, funny, irritating or bratty – you’ll have to let me know.

Would you like your show to be serialised?

Well, “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” has been going on for seasons and seasons. Something like that would be great. [Laughs]

What’s your favourite Snapchat filter?

Let me think. There are so many, I can’t remember. I think there was one with the mermaid. That one was nice! There was also one that made your cheeks very fat – I liked to use that one on Dash.

As a frequent traveller, how do you take care of your skin?

Just put on loads of very strong moisturiser and bring face masks with you. If you’re travelling to drier countries, instead of using your usual gel-based moisturiser – which is more suitable for Singapore – you should try using the oil-based kind.

In fact, sometimes I use oil essence – the kind that you drip on your skin.

Other than “Wendy vs the World”, where else can fans see you?

I am going to do more beauty tutorials on my own YouTube channel.

Will they be like that viral parody tutorial?

[Laughs] No! They will be proper beauty tips!

“Wendy vs the World” premieres on 20 Sep, 10pm, on E! (Singtel channel 328 and Starhub Ch 441).
