Richard Hammond dives into the deepest secrets of nature

“Richard Hammond’s Miracles of Nature” takes a unique look at some of the most remarkable creatures on the planet and their influence on human inventions

Richard Hammond, known for his insight and antics on the popular automobile series “Top Gear”, looks at some of the most intriguing creatures in the world.

He will lead viewers to discover how they’ve evolved to move around, how they’ve adapted to attack as well as to defend themselves, and how they manage to survive in extreme environments.

In this three part series, English broadcaster and co-host of “Top Gear”, Hammond, reveals secret animal abilities from the natural world, and discovers how those same animals have inspired a series of unlikely human inventions at the very frontiers of science.

The series will show him getting buried in a Californian gold mine, diving to the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, as well as driving a car powered by geese. Yes, you can expect more fun and hilarity from the adventures and discovery with this bloke.

The science behind amazing animals has inspired technology

Debut: “Super Bodies”

The first episode of “Richard Hammond’s Miracles of Nature” debuts on Nov 21, on BBC Knowledge. Titled “Super Bodies”, Hammond’s journey will involve leaping 500m off a South African cliff, and much more.

Tune in to the first episode, as well as subsequent ones, to see a world of creatures we never really paid close attention to, and how they have impacted and benefitted us.

In this first episode, Hammond also discovers how the Cape vulture has inspired a flying submarine; how a giraffe’s neck can stop a jet pilot losing consciousness; how a woodpecker’s skull can safely protect a light bulb dropped from space; and even how a South American butterfly holds the secret to making any mobile phone waterproof.

Be amazed by these natural wonders of the world, and the corresponding advances in science.

Richard Hammond is a broadcaster, writer, and journalist most noted for co-hosting “Top Gear” with Jeremy Clarkson and James May, as well as presenting series 1 to 4 of “Brainiac: Science Abuse”. Hammond also presented “Planet Earth Live” alongside Julia Bradbury.
