Thor’s adventures continue as he tries to save Earth and all the Nine Realms from a mysterious enemy
After the wildly successful first film, Thor, the filmmakers reached deep into the archive of Norse mythology and comic book history for a new film, painting an epic adventure of spectacular proportions.
Thor races to restore order to the cosmos but an ancient race of the malevolent Malekith comes back and plunges the universe into darkness.
Will The Enemy Prevail?
This ancient race led by Malekith is ominous, as Thor is faced with an enemy that even Odin and Asgard cannot withstand. Thor, the “Mighty Avenger”, pits his skills against a covert enemy older than the universe itself.
And, this battle to defeat the enemy is his most perilous and personal one yet. It may reunite him with Jane Foster, or he may be forced to sacrifice everything to save the world.
Drawing on universal and familiar themes, the film pits duty and family allegiance against personal aspiration and love.
Creating the Look
“I wanted to get more of a sense of the Norse mythology, the Viking quality, the texture, the history and the weight,” said Director Taylor. Thus, the locations, vast exterior sets, the costumes, hair and makeup, armour, weapons, and visual effects were carefully crafted to give a worn, historical and grounded quality.
Besides the astounding sets a star-studded cast, consisting of Academy-Award winning actors and actresses such as Natalie Portman and Stellan Skarsgård, is expected to deliver stunning performances in this film. Keep your eyes peeled.

• The Nine Realms are taken from Norse mythology and refer to the nine worlds supported by Yggdrasil, an immense ash tree, central to Norse cosmology.
• The Medina or the streets of Asgard set is the biggest set ever built for a Marvel film.
• An aerial camera crew flew to the Dettifoss waterfall in Iceland (Europe’s most powerful waterfall) to film the cascading waters from every angle so as to realistically render the waterfalls ringing Asgard.
• Photos of young Jane Foster in the apartment set came from Natalie Portman’s mother, who keeps a binder filled with photos of Natalie at different ages.
• Thor and Odin each have one look in costuming but Thor needs 15 sets of his costume due to his numerous stunts and action scenes. Odin has about six repeats of his costume.
