This is a satisfying thriller with an interesting story but does not measure up to its predecessors

Mindscape brings out the themes of paedophilia and child abuse in an impactful yet tasteful manner. Its dark overtone and unsettling themes set the stage for an amazing response from the audience.

Let’s Play Mind Games

The plot of Mindscape revolves around a gifted man (played by the talented Mark Strong who starred in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy and Sherlock Holmes) who is capable of reaching into another person’s mind to read his or her memories.

This troubled “memory detective” is handed the case of Anna (played by Taissa Farmiga, younger sister of Vera Farmiga, who starred in the Bling Ring), a 16-year-old with the darkest of memories.

Strong showing

The idea that set the plot for the film may be a little far-fetched. Nonetheless, Strong succeeds in bringing these themes down to earth and helps us to focus on the detective’s ability to solve crimes.

Farmiga, as the haunted 16-year-old, brings an intriguingly dark and twisted personality to Anna, a role that cannot be overstated in this film.

The feeling of the film Inception is sprinkled all over director Dorado’s Mindscape. In fact, it may give off the vibe of a lesser version of the former.

However, Mindscape bears the potential to ride all the way to the top of the box office with its talented team of writers and actors, bringing to life a story that is pretty unique.
