Hardcore Quentin Tarantino film-fanatics would know that Pulp Fiction turns 20 this year. No, we’re not kidding, that movie is 20 years old. To celebrate, we round up 5 memorable and our personal favs from Quentin Tarantino’s grab bag of silver screen goodies.
1) Pulp Fiction
There are too many iconic scenes from Pulp Fiction to choose from! But, what we’ve picked is the famous Ezekiel 25:17, a faux biblical verse made up by Samuel L Jackson and Quentin Tarantino. Watch from 1:03 for the scene.
2) Reservoir Dogs
This Mexican Standoff scene between Nice Guy Eddie, Joe and Mr. White and Mr. Orange, if you count the initial victim. The scene used to be a huge whodunnit but with the evolution of the DVD, the mystery is solved. Mr White got two shots in, killing both father and son.
3) Inglourious Basterds
Hearing Brad Pitt’s character speak with a strong Southern accent in Italian is definitely one of the more hilarious parts of this World War II film, but at the same time the scene makes us squirm in our seats with Christoph Waltz’s probing and interrogative manner. An intense scene, but still, one of the more lighthearted ones in Inglourious Basterds.
4) Kill Bill Vol 1
Chiaki Kuriyama plays the crazed school girl bodyguard, GoGo Yubari, of mafia chief O-ren Ishii, (Lucy Liu). We thought the final scene of The Bride (Uma Thurman) decapitating O-ren might be a little too much for some readers to stomach. So, we decided to show you the showdown between The Bride and GoGo. It’s less gory. Just slightly less.
5) Django Unchained
For those of you who don’t know the D is Silent. One of the most anticipated films of 2012, Django Unchained made waves as a film about slavery and how one free man can tilt the power scales. Watch Jamie Foxx -in a frilly blue suit- beat the living daylights out of his former slaver. We don’t condone violence, but we lived vicariously through Django in that scene.
