The obsession with dolls takes a rather creepy turn with these playful objects exploited as scare tactics for entertainment. But viewers simply can't get enough of it, spawning blockbuster hits such as the recent The Conjuring and the upcoming Annabelle: Creation, screened in Singapore theatres on 9 August.

2. Child’s Play (1988)

The fire starter of all the Chucky installments, 1988’s Child’s Play truly scares the life out of you. The film is one of the first few which benefited from the emergence of more advance technology. Unlike the older flicks with dolls remaining immobile, Child’s Play has a possessed ginger-haired dummy up and running, cursing like a sailor and recklessly wielding sharp objects to cause death and destruction in his path. Well, meet Chucky – a deadly force to be reckoned with, and also a very iconic character to embody for Halloween.
