1. A rejuvenating afternoon tea

For a refreshing change to your usual afternoon tea offerings of sandwiches and tarts, head to Axis Bar and Lounge. From Jan 1-31, diners can enjoy the Rejuvenation Afternoon Tea which will feature superfoods in a delectable array of creations.

Enjoy small bites like Roasted Baby Beet and Feta on Rye Bread, Avocado and Crab on Pumpernickel, Madagascar Vanilla Oat Scones, Sardine and Sun-dried Tomato Puff, Passion Fruit Coconut Sable and Pistachio Raspberry Couche, amongst others, paired with a selection of fine TWG teas.

2. Wines and spirits – paired with hawker food

Thirsty for a tipple or two? You don’t even have to leave home. 75CL, a newly-launched online wine destination by Magnum Spirits and Wine, is offering an extensive selection of wines from the Old World to emerging wine regions.

In addition, they’re on a mission to help Singaporeans lighten up about wine and explore wine pairings with familiar local flavours. Keep your eyes peeled for their Go Local dinner events where wine will be paired with hawker dishes.

3. Modern french cuisine with wine pairings

Previously a wine bar, Verre Modern Bistro & Wine Bar has now opened its doors as a full-fledged restaurant serving modern French cuisine under the helm of Consultant Chef Masashi Horiuchi.

Most noteworthy is the Wine Bites section, which features an extensive variety of small plates with recommended wine pairings stated for each dish, at 100ml per glass (from $10).

1. Bao Bao Issey Miyake exhibition

First we had the Hermès Leather Forever exhibition, then the Louis Vuitton exhibition. Now, fans of Issey Miyake can head down to Ion Orchard to appreciate the label’s stylish Bao Bao collection, then swing by the brand’s first standalone boutique in Singapore, newly opened on level three of Ion Orchard.

2. An orchestra belting out Mandopop favourites

Indulge in a chill-out Sunday afternoon with an orchestral concert of popular Mando-pop songs from the recent past, with hits by the multi-talented Jay Chou and even homegrown singer Stefanie Sun. This concert will have you and your loved ones singing along to the melodies like a mini karaoke session – classical style!

3. Exo perform in Singapore

Popular South Korean boy band Exo is returning for two nights in Singapore this weekend, and if you were looking for a sign to get tickets to the show(s), this is it. Since its debut in 2012, Exo has produced catchy hits like “Wolf” and “Growl”.

Open Farm Community, a dining concept spearheading local farming, is back with its second Social Market from Jan 9-10.

Celebrate the new year by shopping for some locally-grown produce and enjoying delectable grub-to-go. Visitors can expect more than 30 vendors including Edible Garden City, Viknesh Cow’s Farm, Selva Foods and Kerbside Gourmet.

2. Craft and paint your own ceramic pots

If you like zakka (Japanese for “many things”) Japanese-style products, this is the shopping exhibition for you. K+ Polkaros presents charming lifestyle products created by Singaporean artist, Ros Lee, that range from ceramics to paper and more. Every item is lovingly handmade with careful attention to craft and detail.

Polkaros will also be offering a hands-on experience with a series of workshops, such as learning how to create your own ceramic pot from scratch and painting your own design on pre-shaped pots.

3. Get invited to a private pop-art party – with free tipples and snacks

“My Tokyo State of Mind”, Japanese pop-artist Zane Fix’s first solo exhibition in Singapore, is launching with a private party on Jan 14, with new illustrations, indie rock beats, modern Asian snacks and Japanese craft beer all night. Admission is free, but for invitees only – so get yourself invited in the link below for an artful and classy weekend!
