Discover street art hidden in plain view all over Singapore

By Nicole-Marie Ng

Singapore might not be as well known for our street art as Berlin or Barcelona, but we have artists who are just as talented looking to shake up the art scene.

Art is everywhere in Singapore if you look close enough. These are 17 of our favourite street art pieces that can be found across the island. Gather your friends and embark on a photo hunt to beautify your Instagram feed or to find the perfect #OOTD wall.

1. Aliwal Arts Centre

This wall was created by @slacksatu, a street artist who loves Star Wars. He has represented Singapore in multiple international competitions, coming in first place at graffiti competitions since 2006.

2. Aliwal Arts Centre

Another Star Wars piece by @slacsatu. Princess Amidala has never looked this good.

3. Aliwal Arts Centre

Merry Christmas, Yoda wishes.

4. Aliwal Arts Centre

Now that the hype surrounding Star Wars has died down, we wonder if these artists will start painting new murals on the latest hit shows like Batman V Superman or Civil War.

5. Somerset Skate Park

Do you belong to the dark side or are you a Jedi in the making? Pick which side you prefer by taking a picture of this Star Wars mural done by the Titan Aerosol Crew.

6. Belilios Lane, Little India

This street mural screams Bollywood, containing scenes from well-known movies.

7. Upper Dickson Road, Little India

Simple yet sophisticated, we love how light reflects from this gold wall thanks to the metallic paint.

8. Buffalo Road, Little India

It’s only right for these five buffalos to adorn the walls of Buffalo Road.

9. Belilios Lane, Little India

Who knew that Little India had such large scale street art projects. We love how the colourful art captures the vibrancy and life of Little India.

All these paintings are within walking distance from one another, making Little India a great place to embark on a street art trail.

10. Tiong Bahru Market

Enjoy your morning kopi and chwee kueh in full view of this proud peacock.

11. 827 Bukit Timah Road

It takes a whole lot of teamwork to get things going.

12. Pioneer Mall

This portrait of a local girl was completed by an Australian artist in commemoration of SG50.

13. 728 Clementi West Street 2

A gentle reminder that the sun will always come up tomorrow.

14. Tampines Street 41

If you live in Singapore, chances are you live in a high-rise apartment. Wouldn’t it be nice is all our HDB flats were covered in unique murals from top to toe? It’s a welcome sight compared to the plain walls we’ve grown accustomed to.

15. Everton Park

Everton Park is a must visit for all street art enthusiasts!

16. Everton Park

Known for street art that hearkens back to Singapore’s kampong days, head to Everton Park for a trip down memory lane.

17. 29 Sultan Gate

There’s probably nothing Singaporeans love more than food. This is reflected in these murals that show how food has always been and will continue to be a part of Singaporean culture.
