Will Smith & Joel Edgerton Star In The Most Expensive Netflix Original Film To Date

The action-thriller film costs a whopping $100 million

We expect nothing less from director David Ayer, the guy behind blockbuster hits of Suicide Squad and End of Watch, to produce a fantasy epic like Bright.

Perhaps as a reflection of the real world’s marginalised communities, the new Netflix original is set in an alternate present-day of Los Angeles, revolving around three citizen classes: Elves, Orcs and Humans. Bright is referred to a user that has magical abilities which is seemingly exclusive to the Elves, making them the most elite class. Humans and Orcs are without supernatural abilities and deemed “lesser”. Furthermore, Orcs are regarded as the lowest of low based on their looks, hence are oppressed and discriminated.

So what happens when the first ever Orc is inducted into the Los Angeles Police Department? Jakoby (played by Joel Edgerton) soon learns by the dismissal treatment he’ll receive by the force and even his own human partner, Ward (played by Will Smith).

Bright also stars Noomi Rapace, Lucy Fry, Edgar Ramirez, Ike Barinholtz, Enrique Murciano, Jay Hernandez, Andrea Navedo, Veronica Ngo, Alex Meraz, Margaret Cho, Brad William Henke, Dawn Oliveri, and Kenneth Choi.

The Netflix film will debut on the streaming service 22 December 2017.
