3. Celebrate Dia de Muertos in Singapore

One of Mexico’s key cultural festivals, Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) comes to life in Singapore this November. Held at the colonial-styled Old Beach Road Police Station on 4 November from 1Pm to 11pm, the event will see musicians and artists from both Singapore and Mexico come together to honour the lives of the dead.

In conjunction with Frida Kahlo’s 110th birth anniversary, the event’s altar installation and exhibition pay homage to the famed Mexican painter, with all pieces inspired by Frida herself. The event will also include fun-filled activities for all ages, such as an augmented reality installation of Disney/Pixar’s upcoming movie feature Coco, as well as Mexican craft-making workshops that both children and families can enjoy.

Expect traditional music, lots of art, and dishes from local Mexican restaurants, such as  Señor Taco’s array of signature tacos and quesadillas, as well as Margaritas’ tamales (steamed pork with masa dumplings, wrapped in corn husks), elotes (Mexican street-style corn on the cob) and more!
