How does catching a film at a drive-in cinema reminiscent of 1970s Jurong sound to you? What about soaking in the old-meets-new charms of Jalan Besar? From 6 to 22 April, the Singapore Heritage Festival (SHF) returns for its 15th edition that offers all that, and many more over three weekends. Discover the lesser known aspect of our little red dot, experiences places and stories anew, and enjoy our tangible and intangible heritage. More than 120 programmes and activities will take place across key locations this year — Jurong, Jalan Besar, Chinatown, Bras Basah.Bugis and Toa Payoh.

Here are some of the activities you can look forward to this year:

Jurong (6 to 8 April)

The iconic ship-like Jurong Town Hall with its digital clock mast is the focal point of attraction for the first weekend of SHF this year. Activities include a tour of Singapore Press Holding’s Print Centre on Jurong Port Road and a drive-in cinema experience at the Jurong Town Hall screening popular flicks like They Call Her Cleopatra Wong, Army Daze and Chicken Rice War.

Younger visitors will be thrilled by Jurong Songbook, a theatrical performance put up by Sweet Tooth that recounts the area’s origins through music and song. Boogie the night away with the festival’s energetic instructors and learn some simple moves inspired by the global disco culture that reached its peak in the 1970s thanks to the hit movie Saturday Night Fever.
