Long Bar Is Back In Full Restored Force At Raffles Hotel

The iconic bar returns as Raffles Hotel begins reopening in phases

You can now enjoy the original Singapore Sling experience at its historic home once again, because Long Bar has finally reopened at Raffles Hotel Arcade.

When Raffles Hotel closed its doors temporarily for an extensive renovation last year, business went on for Long Bar at a pop-up space on Seah Street. But although the pop-up bar kept the classic tipples pouring, the iconic décor and ambience of the Raffles Hotel Long Bar was sorely missed.

Yet, we have to say the wait was worth it for the historic bar to undergo its first restoration since 1991. As if making up for any disappointment, the newly refurbished Long Bar restores the nostalgic touches we’ve missed, starting with the original location at Level 2 of Raffles Hotel Arcade. The bar continues to feature tropical décor inspired by 1920s Malayan plantation, while this colonial-style atmosphere also gets an upgrade with contemporary cane and rattan furniture.

The old-school vibes will only get better as rest of our beloved Raffles Hotel slowly comes back to us with more exciting offerings in tow. Long Bar is one of the first among many new and acclaimed restaurants to call the hotel home when it fully re-opens in early 2019.

After putting up with the earlier closure of the pop-up bar (at 8pm!), travellers and local cocktail lovers can now breathe a sigh of relief that late-night drinks at Long Bar are a thing again. Now open daily from 11am to 11pm, the bar currently serves a selection of craft cocktails in addition to the famous Singapore Sling, which was first created at Long Bar in 1915.

So rejoice in the return of Long Bar with a glass of that classic pink cocktail, and don’t forget to throw your peanut shells on the floor and crunch them with your feet, as per tradition!
