The Swedish furniture company is throwing a four-day long party and everyone’s invited
In 1978, Swedish furniture company IKEA opened its first store in Singapore. Located at Sixth Avenue, the store brought Singaporeans closer to their dreams of owning a well-designed home. 40 years on, the world’s largest home furnishing retailer is still going strong in Singapore, having since opened not one, but two megastores.
To celebrate four decades in Singapore, IKEA will be throwing their biggest birthday bash ever from 10 to 13 May at both Alexandra and Tampines stores. Across the four days, visitors can both stores can look forward to all sorts of fun events and activities. If you’re looking to get hands-on, there’ll be various workshops happening throughout the day including a decoupage workshop, a terrarium workshop, and even a dala horse colouring for the little ones. There’ll also be face painting, balloon sculpting, and airbrush body painting to keep the kids entertained all day long!
Class 95 DJs Muttons will be making an appearance at IKEA Tampines and IKEA Alexandra on 12 and 13 May respectively, where visitors can join the entertaining duo for a series of fun game, AS-IS furniture auctions, and even a furniture building competition where you’ll stand to win IKEA gift cards and bring home what you’ve built!
Other activities visitors can look forward to includes mug marbling, caricature, live cooking demonstration, and live band performances.
If all the activities are making you hungry, IKEA Family members who visit both stores from 10 to 13 May can get free breakfast, fika, and supper. For everyone else, there are birthday dining specials including $0.40 frozen yogurts, $4 for 4pcs Chicken Wings, $4 for 10pcs Meatballs, and 40% off Salmon Combo Set.
Shoppers who spend a minimum of $100 in-stores will also get to redeem a set of three limited edition IKEA 40th anniversary pins! There are a total of 18 designs, so if you’re feeling like a fancy collector, we’re thinking it’s new furniture time! 😉
