If you didn’t get to celebrate Valentine’s Day on 14 Feb, you may want to take a cue from this South Korean ‘holiday’ happening tomorrow.

Every year on 14 Apr, singles in Korea who didn’t receive any gifts on “White Valentine’s” celebrate Black Valentine’s by basically having a treat-yourself day.

Here’s how you can follow in their footsteps and throw a self-lovin’ party, Korean style:

Eat jajangmyyeon

Jajangmyyeon , or noodles covered in thick black bean sauce, is an essential dish on Black Valentine’s because it’s, well, black. The comfort food of the day is so popular among Koreans that jajangmyyeon-eating contests are even hosted on the day for especially passionate singles to commiserate over the greasy starchy meal.

If you can’t get your hands on jajangmyyeon here, try substituting it with a large plate of char kway teow. Why not – it’s black and greasy too.
