8. Beyond 2017: Jurong Lake Gardens

Envisioned to be Singapore’s new national gardens in the heartlands, the 90ha-large Jurong Lake Gardens (JLG) will comprise JLG West, JLG Central and JLG East.

JLG West will focus on the restoration of natural habitats and nature-themed family recreational activities, while JLG Central will feature tropical horticultural gardens within a natural and rustic setting, including tropical and aquatic show gardens. There will also be spaces to cater for corporate, private and community events, and educational programmes.

The Gardens will be served by the Lakeside, Chinese Garden and Jurong East MRT Stations; a People Mover System; and cycling and pedestrian paths. JLG West is scheduled to be completed in 2018, while JLG Central and East will be completed from 2020 onwards.
