As summer rolls around, it's time to get your cameras, picnic mats and inner artist ready. Five large-scale and family-friendly art festivals are bursting into action from May to June.

Here's what you can look out for over the next couple of weekends:

4. National Gallery Singapore’s Children’s Biennale

When: 20 May – 8 Oct

The National Gallery Singapore is throwing its inaugural Children’s Biennale, with interesting installations and activities for the whole family to enjoy.

Themed “Dreams & Stories”, it will feature immersive and interactive showcases, installations and activities – check out more highlights here.

A must-see is the Homogenizing and Transforming World installation. This work comes from teamLab, the visionaries behind the popular Future World exhibition at the ArtScience Museum and the Story of the Forest in the National Museum’s Glass Rotunda.

Here, immerse yourself in a multi-sensory experience, where a large number of globes change colour and emanate audio responses when touched.

Finally, catch the Outdoor Festival 2017: It’s Time from 5pm-11pm on 21-23 and 28-30 Jul, when the façade of National Gallery will be lit nightly, accompanied by festival performances and the Festival Food Street, with picnic packages for families and children.
