Osia’s New Sharing Menu Will Delight The Whole Family

The refreshed menu focuses on communal dining

Hearty portions encourage communal dining.

Since opening in 2010, Osia has joined the ranks of many celebrity chef restaurants that have popped up in Resorts World Sentosa and Marina Bay Sands. In a smart move to possibly break the lull and draw more families, the award-winning restaurant led by Australian celebrity chef Scott Webster has undergone a facelift with a refreshed menu to boot.

As the founder behind “The Masters of Australian Food and Wine”, a leading biannual gastronomic event held at the Crown Casino Melbourne, Chef Scott is continually changing the landscape of the Australian culinary scene. As such, it’s exciting to see how Osia’s menu has evolved with him at the helm.

 

Communal Dining Takes Centre Stage

Diners can expect the same contemporary Australian cuisine that the restaurant is loved for, with a new Sharing Plates Menu that combines Asian influences and Western culinary techniques, presented in hearty portions to encourage communal dining.

The Mud Crab Cakes ($26) from the Sharing Plates Menu was unanimously voted the favourite of my dining companions and I. Lightly-breaded and fried, the crab cakes were meaty and moist, and paired nicely with the sweet-sour celeriac rémoulade (mayonnaise-based) cocktail sauce.

Equally refreshing is the Butternut Squash ($26). While the dish looked like mushy baby food at first glance, its flavours more than made up for its less than impressive looks. Chunks of sweet butternut squash in hazelnut brown butter complemented the soft blobs of milky burrata (Italian cheese made from mozzarella and cream), with pumpkin seeds adding some crunch.

 

Fresh from the Stone Hearth Oven

From the restaurant’s signature Stone Hearth Oven comes a variety of grilled seafood and meat dishes that will delight meat lovers.

Inspired by the restaurant’s signature Stone Hearth Oven Grill, a grill menu has been developed to emphasise specially-sourced meat and seafood. One of the highlights is the Byron Bay Berkshire Pork Rack ($56), which is available exclusively at Osia Steak & Seafood Grill outside of Australia.

The pork was well marbled and tender, with a slight smoky flavour from being cooked over open fire. Accompanying the grilled meat was an extensive selection of condiments that were made in-house. I found myself going back for the sweetly-tart Apple Butter Barbecue Sauce as well as the Herb Butter.

 

Old Favourites Kept

Apart from the new additions, old favourites like the Stone Hearth Flat Bread have been kept. Freshly baked on the spot, it come in flavours such as macadamia pesto and is served with a handy tube of spread that changes flavour daily. That day, we were served a creamy macadamia ricotta spread.

Loyal fans will also be happy to know that desserts such as the Madagascar Vanilla and Jamaican Rum as well as the mouth-watering Hot Chocolate Soup remain on the menu.

For its convivial atmosphere and hearty sharing plates, Osia makes a great dining destination for family and friends alike.
