WAN Bar + Kitchen: Alcoholic Bubble Tea & Refreshed Menu

Head down to this outdoor gastrobar at Suntec City for a three-in-‘wan’ stop: drinks, dinner, and dancing!

WAN may be known for being a lit new nightclub – but we’re here to tell you that you shouldn’t skip out on having drinks and dinner at their alfresco bar before heading in for a night of revelry! Why think too hard about where to go for pre-clubbing light bites or drinks, when you can hit up a place that’s a wan-stop shop after all?

If you’ve been lurking around Instagram much, you’ve probably come across photographs of these cute mini-floats housing equally colourful bubble teas. But wait – these teas are not just mere bubble teas, they’re all grown-up versions, made with alcohol bases – and WAN’s playfully-named, colourful takes on our childhood favourites and current obsession pack a hefty punch indeed!

Take your pick from the LDR, The Ex Lover, The Casanova, Childhood Sweetheart or The Singapore Fling – our favourite was The Ex Lover (S$15)! A base of Reyka vodka is blended with ice and Solerno Liquer and lime juice, with fruity bits of nata de coco to finish. Sweet enough at first sip, with a citrusy aftertaste and a delightful hit from the booze, this is one lover that won’t be getting away!

For a slightly sweeter, but no less potent option, go for the Casanova (S$15): Hendrick’s Gin, blended with apple juice, apricot, rose syrup and lime juice, to bring out the lovely floral flavours of the Hendrick’s. Plus, the lychee pearls are an added touch of fun and texture when they pop in your mouth!

Thai milk tea lovers, don’t miss out on the ‘LDR’ Long Distance Relationship (S$15). An alcoholic twist on Thai Iced Tea made with Sailor Jerry Spiced Rum, and wonderfully QQ pearls!

Of course, if you’re planning to drink more, don’t forget to line your stomach with some food first -WAN’s doesn’t just offer mere bar bites too, but dinner service as well, a refreshed menu carefully curated by head Chef Anthony. We loved the Mala Mafia Prawns, where juicy tiger prawns are tossed in a tangy and spicy mala cream, and served with nicely-charred Melba toast.

Or, go for the slurp-worthy Angel Hair Pasta With Mentaiko and Scallops if you’re feeling a little more peckish: luxe, fragrant and cooked to al dente perfection.

The Wok-fried Omurice is good for sharing if you’re planning on clubbing hard later on – or you could just have it all to yourself, because it really is amazing! Wokhei-perfumed fried rice enveloped in a soft omelette shell, filled with chunks of prawns, luncheon meat, shallots, and mushrooms. Fragrant, savoury, and so very moreish.
