We need one more hawker stall on this year’s list, please!

Has it been almost three years since the prestigious Michelin Guide Singapore debuted in 2016?

Previously held at The Fullerton Hotel, this year’s Michelin Guide Singapore will be revealed at Resorts World Sentosa on 25 July, where revered gourmet figures and ardent foodies gather for one night of glitz, glamour and culinary honour.

Also making a return is the Bib Gourmand selection, released one week prior to the awards ceremony. The list awards outstanding eateries serving meals under $45. 2017’s list sees a total of 38 restaurants, including Ah Er Soup, Zai Shun Curry Fish Head and Man Man Japanese Unagi Restaurant.

Similar to the previous two editions, this year’s Michelin Guide Singapore will include a gala dinner, following the theme The Past Through Tomorrow, whipped up by chefs from Michelin-starred establishments.

Aside from internationally renowned chefs such as ‘Demon Chef’ Alvin Leung of three-Michelin-starred Hong Kong-based Bo Innovation and recently-opened Forbidden Duck in Singapore, and chef Arnaud Dunand Sauthier of two-Michelin-starred Le Normandie Restaurant in Bangkok, who both will reinterpret iconic Singapore dishes, Singaporean chefs such as chef Sun Kim of one-Michelin-starred Meta and chef Rishi Naleendra of one-Michelin-starred Cheek By Jowl will also be part of the lavished banquet’s makers.

Open to the public, the six-course wine-pairing dinner is priced at $595 per person.

The Michelin Guide Singapore 2017 presented stars to 38 eateries, with the two hawker stalls — Hill Street Tai Hwa Pork Noodle and Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle  — still maintaining their one-Michelin-star ranking from 2016’s inaugural edition. Hawker Chan of Hong Kong Soya Sauce Chicken Rice and Noodle has indeed reaped the Michelin-anointed success, opening up more outlets around the globe such as Melbourne and Taipei and drawing long, snaking queues when it held a pop-up in London recently.
