TFS Bistrot is loved for its affordable French cuisine.

Recently, places such as Rochor Centre have been thrust into the spotlight since news of their demolition. Iconic buildings aside, it seems like we can’t take our favourite foodie spots for granted either.

Hainanese-Russian restaurant Shashlik was thankfully revived, but the same can’t be said for cafe Five and Dime or The French Stall (TFS Bistrot).

Until its scheduled closure in mid-June this year, the casual French bistro will still be serving the authentic and affordable French cuisine that is so known for.

Over the 16 years, TFS Bistrot at Serangoon Road has gained a loyal following for its cosy space decked in patriotic French stripes and classical statues — just like a true blue Parisian cafe, and its unpretentious food.

Helmed by Chef Xavier Le Henaff who uses traditional recipes from his days as a young chef in France, the bistro’s signature dishes includes French Onion Soup, Duck Confit and more.

Here, we’ve rounded up 5 delicious dishes to tick off our checklist, while we bid our reluctant farewell.

1. Pan Fried Canadian Scallops

Toothsome risotto scented with shallots and garlic, is topped with plump and juicy Canadian scallops for one of the best meals you’ll have.

2. Duck Confit with Pan Fried Foie Gras

For a little more indulgence, order the Duck Confit with Foie Gras and mop up the flavourful red wine sauce and jus with some bread.

3. Giant Profiterole with Vanilla Ice-Cream

You’ll want to have this decadent Giant Profiterole with Vanilla Ice-Cream all to yourself.

4. Souffle

Their signature souffles are a must-order. Our favourite had to be the Chocolate Souffle, which is made using dark Guanaja chocolate.

5. Charoal-Grilled Ribeye

TFS Bistrot’s Grilled Beef Sirloin Steak, served with mustard-scented butter, will delight meat lovers. It is nicely done and flavourful.

While loyal followers may be upset at the news of their closure, they’ll be pleased to know that Chef  Le Henaff isn’t hanging up his apron for good — he aims to launch a new restaurant this year.

Meanwhile, we’ll be making our way to the French bistro for seconds and thirds.
