9th August is nearly upon us - celebrate the nation's birthday with exclusive dishes, menus, and gorgeous views of the NDP fireworks display!
As a nation known for its foodie culture, there's no better way to spend your National Day long weekend feasting with your family and loved ones while watching the yearly parade on TV. Or even better - catching a gorgeous view of the fireworks display without having to squeeze with the crowd!
From heritage dishes, to buffets, beers, and cocktails; we've rounded up 12 restaurants (including those with a view!) to head to for your National Day celebrations.
Taking your hard-to-please parentals out for a meal over the long weekend? Cantonese restaurant Yàn is the perfect place for a meal that will satisfy your loved ones across the generations – especially with their National Day Special Dim Sum Menu! Savour five exclusively-created dim sum delights that take inspiration from our favourite local dishes; from bak kut teh to chwee kueh.
For chilli crab lovers who enjoy the dish but not the mess, go for the Pan-fried Singapore Chilli Crab Meat Bun ($9++ for 3 pieces), where sweet and tangy chilli crab sauce oozes out from the crisp mantou when bitten into. The Steamed Hainanese Chicken with Sticky Rice Wrapped in Lotus Leaf ($4++ per piece), a unique cross-over of a bak chang with chicken rice, is a hearty package of fragrant glutinous chicken rice, filled with tender chunks of chicken thigh and wrapped up in lotus leaves, and served with chilli, dark soy sauce and ginger sauce. Another dish to savour would be the Steamed Xiao Long Bao with Bak Kut Teh Stock (4 pieces for $5.80++), where the delicate dumplings offer up a burst of familiar herbal flavour.
