Japan Food Town Will Bring Some Of Japan’s Best Eateries To Singapore

Japan Food Town to open at Wisma Atria Jul 16

By Nicole-Marie Ng

Japanese food halls are not a novel idea in Singapore but Japan Food Town has us excited.

Created in collaboration with the Japan Association of Overseas Promotion for Food & Restaurants (JAOF) and its corporate supporters, the Food Town will occupy over 20,075 square feet of space on the 4th floor of Isetan Singapore.

Each one of the 16 restaurants was hand-picked from Japan to represent Japanese cuisine in Singapore. Every culinary concept has a rich story behind it, with some restaurants dating back centuries. Here is a sneak peek of what you can expect at the Japan Food Town.

DassaiA

Dassai Bar

Dassai has garnered a reputation for producing some of the best sakes in Japan. Their most luxurious sake, Dassai Beyond, was even served in the United States during a White House State dinner.

The Dassai Bar at Japan Food Town will be the first outside of Japan. They will be serving an array of their finest quality sakes like the Dassai 23 and other sake-based cocktails.

Bonta Bonta

An onigiri might be a simple snack we grab out of convenience, but, Bonta Bonta has perfected the art of the humble rice ball.

The rice used at Bonta Bonta is first selected by a rice sommelier and then processed to the highest standards so as to qualify as Kinme Mai – a low-calorie brown rice with high nutritional values. Taste the difference in this artisanal version of the humble rice ball, each lovingly handmade and served with piping hot miso soup.

Yomoda Soba

A staple in Japanese cuisine, good soba is a little more difficult to find in Singapore. Thankfully, Japan Food Town will be bringing in one of Japan’s most loved soba stalls, Yomoda Soba.

Yomoda makes their soba fresh on-site daily and is known to be a celebrity favourite in Tokyo. You will also be surprised by how affordable this bowl of soba can be.

Nabe Seizan D

Nabe Seizan

The original Seizan restaurant in Japan is a 2-Michelin starred Kaiseki restaurant helmed by 35 year old chef, Haruhiko Yamamoto.

Chef Yamamoto believes in bringing out the true flavour of each ingredient in his nabe instead of relying heavily on sauces. He will be putting together a tantalising menu for Singaporeans to experience what a 2-Michelin star nabe tastes like.

Heijyoen B

Heijyoen Yakiniku

You’ve never had wagyu quite like this. Heijyoen carefully procures only the best black hair wagyu from all over Japan, ensuring that quality is consistent year-round.

Each piece of meat is then aged to bring out a deeper concentration of beefy flavour before it is grilled simply before you.
