We heard of the spooky terrors at Silver Shell Cafe and decided to take a look for ourselves. What we saw was.. terrifyingly tasty
I have never fancied the idea of Halloween. I am easily scared and turning every corner this season guarantees the next fright of my life. But food is impossible to hate so I found myself at Rasa Sentosa’s Silver Shell Cafe, checking out their Halloween menu.
Get ready to be frightened
Pumpkin is the ultimate food symbol for Halloween. It is no surprise that this dish is their starter. I would have been supremely impressed if the pumpkin was edible but it was a prop. Nonetheless, the soup was ordinary and nothing outstanding. I did not try the shots but the carved tomato was a quaint touch!
One healthy fruit serving
This poached pear looks suspiciously like a stylized liver. It gave me chills slicing a part of this to try, it feels like I am performing a surgical act. The poached pear is soft and chewy, with the chocolate wig providing it a much-needed crunch.
Can you stomach this?
This dish is so hardcore, the carved teeth poked me as I scooped up a bite of curry. The devil curry is made of chicken cooked in chili and / tomato sauce, capsicum and black pepper. The colors are menacing enough and the taste of peppered curry comes through powerfully. I would have loved to have rice complementing this. This is a dish I would want on their regular offerings.
Tasty treats for the tongue
Can we talk about how intricate the cupcakes are? It is hard getting spooked by a cupcake when it looks so delicious. Their Halloween cupcakes series are a small mouthful and rightfully so, seeing that they have quite a large selection of mini Halloween treats to offer. Their R.I.P. cupcake comprises of a tasty, tart base and decadent chocolate fillings.
